Why is the West refusing to rollover and stop printing the cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Muhammed? Even knowing that the Islamic world is fuming, why are these cartoons still being printed, posted and published?
It’s amazing that in this touchy feely world of political correctness and the ‘we musn’t offend’ slumber we’ve been under that suddenly we see in-your-face-defiance from the West. Not only have several European newspapers united with the Denmark paper that originally published the cartoons by reprinting them in their own news, but also bloggers across the West have joined in and are publishing the ‘offensive’ cartoons on thousands and thousands of blogs.
Why?
While the West has tried to pamper, understand, feel the pain, and cater to many groups in the name of political correctness and tolerance, there is one thing that you can never, EVER, ask the West to do.
We will not give up our freedom.
We live and breathe our freedom. We fought and died for our freedom. And for the Islamic world to try to tell the West that we must adhere to their Islamic law has hit a nerve in the entire free West. And the West has responded with defiance.
One Islamic protestor carried a sign that said, “Freedom, Go To Hell”. But without ever knowing, tasting, feeling or living in true freedom, the Islamic world will never understand our defiance.
